Todas ellas poseen el anillo de la pteridina en sus estructuras, el cual es responsable de los procesos de reduccion observados sobre electrodos estaticos de mercurio.  se ha prestado una especial atencion a la molecula del acido folico, dada su significancia biologica. Se han llevado a cabo estudios electroquimicos basicos que completan la informacion electroquimica disponible de algunos aspectos de las moleculas, especialmente las concernientes a su adsorcion sobre electrodos de mercurio. Ha sido posible la determinacion de estas moleculas cuando todas ellas se hayan presentes en disoluciones acuosas, gracias a su diferente comportamiento adsortivo y caracteristicas electroquimicas. La utilizacion de un barrido de corriente alterna aplicada a la redisolucion del acido folico acumulado tras un periodo de 10 minutos, permite determinar una concentracion de 1,0+10-11 m. Se ha desarrollado un nuevo metodo para analizar acido folico en suero humano mediante la voltamperometria de adsorcion-redisolucion de corriente alterna, obteniendose un limite de deteccion de 5,88 10-9 m y un rango lineal que abarca desde 2,0+10-8 hasta 2,0+10-6 m.
