Los objetivos de esta tesis han sido analizar en este tipo de pacientes la mortalidad, en funcion de su estado nutricional inicial, asi como comparar la evolucion de este estado y de la funcion hepatica con el tratamiento, las complicaciones encontradas y las dietas utilizadas. La desnutricion al inicio del tratamiento con nutricion parenteral fue del 71,38%, estando asociada a un incremento en la mortalidad. La evolucion nutricional es mejor en los pacientes sin fistulas, sin cancer, y en los mas jovenes. En los que no tenian alteracion hepatica la bilirrubina, ggt y fa muestran incrementos claramente relevantes a lo largo del tratamiento.
