Tambien se estudia el proceso de envejecimiento en los productos sellados en frio, y el sellado en el rango intermedio de temperatura entre la de ebullicion del agua y la ambiente.  los resultados obtenidos demuestran que el proceso de envejecimiento en la atmosfera de Madrid produce un autosellado con el tiempo, cuyos indices de calidad llegan a ser superiores a los conseguidos en el tratamiento clasico en agua a ebullicion, que consiste fundamentalmente en la hidratacion de la alumina anhidra.  un efecto similar se consigue cuando las capas anodicas sin sellar se situan en un ambiente suficientemente humedo donde pueden absorber agua, habiendose comprobado que el grado de autosellado depende del binomio temperatura-tiempo, supliendo tiempos mas largos el efecto acelerador de la temperatura.
