En 1932 w. Hersenbeg lo propone por primera vez al aplicar mec\u00e1nica cu\u00e1stica al n\u00facleo, lo denomia coordenada y lo usa como una herramienta \u00fatil en su teor\u00eda nuclear. Esta coordenada se lleva a diferentes contextos: e. fermi, en 1933, la utiliza en la teor\u00eda del decaimiento y m\u00e1s tarde, h. yukana la retoma en su propuesta de una teor\u00eda para el n\u00facleo. Desde comienzos de 1930 se desarrollan los aceleradores, este tipo de instrumentos van a permitir llevar a cabo una serie de experimentos para saber c\u00f3mo so nlas fuerzas en el n\u00facleo. En 1936 se llega a la conclusi\u00f3n de que \u00e9stas son independientes de carga.  este hecho permite que el isop\u00edn se vuelva a utilizar en dos contextos diferentes: la espectroscop\u00eda nuclear y la teor\u00eda de sesiones. Es precisamente en la espectroscop\u00eda nuclear que e.
