Hemos obtenido los siguientes resultados: 1) la diferenciacion morfologica de la celula ocurre por la emision sucesiva y compartimentalizada de prolongaciones de varios tipos, algunas de las cuales crecen por conos de crecimiento. 2) la forma adulta de las celulas presenta una gran variabilidad. 3) la celula de muller incrementa mas de 10 veces su superficie de membrana desde el estadio e13 (211 m2) hasta el adulto (2948 m2), fundamentalmente por la emision de multiples prolongaciones en la parte vitrea. 4) la proteina 3cb2 (un nuevo filamento intermedio o proteina asociada a filamentos intermedios) se expresa en la celula de muller a lo largo de todo el desarrollo y en adulto y se distribuye por toda la celula, excepto por el \u00absprouting\u00bb que emite en las primeras fases de diferenciacion y por el \u00abmicrovilli\u00bb de la celula adulta. La distribucion de tubulina y -actina varia a lo largo del desarrollo y esta compartimentalizada en la celula adulta.
