En el trabajo que se presenta, se propone la secuenciacion del dna de cuatro alelos humanos de dicho gen y la secuenciacion del mismo en 8 especies de primates no humanos. A partir de las secuencias obtenidas, se propone analizar su isotipo proteico, sus determinantes antigenicos (chido y rodgers) y sus diferencias alelicas; asi como estudiar las relaciones evolutivas de los distintos alelos obtenidos.  se ha obtenido un total de 15 nuevas secuencias de c4; en ellas se observa que la variabilidad se concentra alrededor de los residuos 1101-1106, que es la zona funcional principal de interaccion con antigenos de distinta naturaleza. Los dos isotipos, c4a y c4b, esta, representados en las secuencias obtenidas y en todas las especies estudiadas, excepto en los tamarinos, que solo presentan c4b. En esta especie no se ha encontrado polimorfismo en el fragmento secuenciado. Desde un punto de vista evolutivo, los antigenos chido 1 y rodgers 3 parecen ser los mas antiguos, con mas de 40 millones de a\u00f1os, y los antigenos chido 3 y 6 y rodgers 1 y 2 son especificos de la especie humana y por tanto, podrian ser los antigenos de aparicion mas reciente.
