La diferenciacion no es una mera consecuencia del da\u00f1o en el dna. No obstante, el da\u00f1o en el dna puede ser responsable de algunos efectos, tales como la rapida activacion de proteina quinasa c asociada a membrana, asi como facilitar el proceso de diferenciacion. La diferenciacion podria ser mas una respuesta a perturbaciones especificas en el ciclo de proliferacion celular (en concreto, al desacoplamiento de los ciclos cromosomico y de crecimiento en masa que a la inhibicion de la actividad topoisomerasa en si misma. Finalmente, la diferenciacion podria ser explicable, al menos en parte, por la sensibilizacion celular a la accion del tnf alfa, asi como por la estimulacion de la sintesis y secrecion de tnfalfa. Ademas se demuestra que la cafeina es capaz de atenuar la accion de inhibidores de dna topoisomerasa ii, por mecanismos que previenen tanto la formacion de complejos topoisomerasa-dna como por
