El seguimiento del proceso inflamatorio desarrollado en rata y raton, se hace mediante el estudio macroscopico de las lesiones producidas y el analisis histologico de la membrana sinovial, determinando ademas los niveles sericos de oligoelementos (cu y zn), que pueden estar alterados en procesos inflamatorios. Junto a estos metodos \u00abin vivo\u00bb, se hace una determinacion de la actividad antiinflamatoria en cultivos celulares donde se mide la produccion de eicosanoides, importantes mediadores de la inflamacion. El fraccionamiento cromatografico del extracto acetato de etilo, el, mas activo tanto en los metodos \u00abin vivo\u00bb como \u00abin vitro\u00bb dio como resultado el aislamiento de 7 principios activos, tres flavonoides luteolina, apigenona y quercetina; y cuatro cumarinas, escopoletina, escopolina, esculetina y herniarina, identificadas todas ellas, excepto la herniarina por primera vez en la especie.
