Se aislaron y caracterizaron dos clones de cdna, sen102 y sen11, que codificaban dos tiolproteasas de la familia de la papaina. La presencia de un peptido se\u00f1al en el extremo amino de estas proteasas indican que entran en la via de secreccion. Asi mismo, la existencia de tetrapeptidos caracteristicos de retencion en reticulo en el extremo carboxilo de estas proteinas sugiere que posiblemente se localicen en el lumen de este organulo. El perfil de expresion de estos genes en tepalos, asi como su induccion por acido giberelico, apuntan a una posible implicacion de las etiolproteasas que codifican en la movilizacion de aminoacidos durante la senescencia de la corola.
