Uno de ellos, pkpa, es un gen que determina una quinasa. El otro, prti, corresponde a un retrotransposon. La proteina pkpa, una quinasa de serina y treonina, presenta caracteristicas similares a las quinasas implicadas en transduccion de se\u00f1ales (mapk). La expresion del gen pkpa esta asociada a las fases de proliferacion nuclear activa y es reprimida durante la forogenesis. La existencia de una proteina muy similar a pkpa en a. Thaliana, junto con hibridaciones de dna en otros hongos sugieren la existencia de una familia de quinasas tipo pkpa conservada evolutivamente. Prtl es un retrotransposon atipico del grupo ty3\/gypsy, puesto que como dirs1 y pat1 (sus homologos) su gen pol carece de integrasa y proteasa. Prtl como dirsl no tiene gen gag y presenta repeticiones terminales invertidas de 54 pb. Prtl es inactivo, solo existe una copia por genomio, no se detecta mrna y ha acumulado mutaciones. Prtl esta presente en todas las estirpes de p.Blakesleeanus y ausente en las de p.Nitens y mucor circinelloides analizadas. Adyacentes a prtl existen unas secuencias cortas repetidas inversa y directamente que forman una region denominada r. Estas secuencias existen en mas copias en el genomio de p.
