Lipolytica codifica para una proteina de 310 aminoacidos homologa a la proteina srp19 de humanos. Esta proteina es una de las seis que junto al rna denominado 7sl rna forman la particula de reconocimiento de la se\u00f1al (srp) en mamiferos que esta involucrada en el transito de proteinas desde el citoplasma al lumen del reticulo endoplasmico. En y. Lipolytica esta proteina inmunoprecipita junto al 7sl rna lo que indica que existe una srp formada al menos por la proteina sec65 y el 7sl rna. Hemos determinado que el gen sec65 de y. Lipolytica es esencial para la viabilidad cecular. Mediante mutagenesis al azar hemos obtenido un mutante termosensible mutado en la proteina sec65 y que esta afectado en la secrecion de la proteasa alcalina extracelular madura al medio de cultivo. El gen ura5 de y. Lipolytica codifia para una proteina de 219 aminoacidos con una masa molecular estimada de 23675 daltons. Esta proteina es homolaga a la orotato fosforribosil transferasa, enzima involucrada en la ruta de sintesis de ump. La interrupcion del gen ura5 de y.Lipolytica, produce como cabria esperar, mutantes auxotrofos para uracilo.  hemos demostrado que los genes ura5 y sec65 de y.  lipolytica son funcionales en s.
