Se han encontrado modificaciones de la actividad de las enzimas, fosfatasa acida y hexosaminidasa con la edad, modificaciones que no son revertidas por los factores de crecimiento y hormonas, ni parecen tener relacion con ellos. Para las enzimas galactosidasas se han encontrado efectos significativos de las pruebas fisiologicas (sobrecarga oral de glucosa e inyeccion de ghrh, que afectan de manera diferente a las personas de distintas edades. Para las hormonas estudiadas tambien se han encontrado diferentes concentraciones y diferentes respuestas a los estimulos utilizados con la edad.
