Dos semanas tras la implantacion de electrodos epidurales y toracicos, los animales fueron anestesiados con propofol (20-80 mg\/kg\/hr, en infusion continua, con incrementos cada 20 min), halotano (1-2 %, por via inhalatoria, con incrementos cada 10 min) y ketamina (80 mg\/kg, i.P.). Los cambios inducidos en el eeg por cada agente anestesico presentan caracteristicas especificas durante la anestesia general, asi como caracteristicas comunes que permiten predecir la reaccion de alerta durante la recuperacion. La reaccion de alerta del eeg precede la recuperacion del hrv. Todos los agentes estudiados deprimen el componente simpatico asociado a la hrv y originan efectos dispares sobre el componente parasimpatico.
