La exigencia de un mercado cada vez mas competitivo ha obligado a mejorar notablemente los controles de calidad de las uniones soldadas.  esta tesis doctoral tuvo su origen en una propuesta de la factoria de general motors (puerto real, cadiz) para mejorar el control de calidad de sus equipos de soldadura de resistencia electrica. La experiencia obtenida de la investigacion realizada en este tipo de soldadura (puntual) fue el punto de partida para el estudio de una soldadura mas complejo: la soldadura por arco electrico que es de tipo continuo.  los metodos de deteccion de fallos no destructivos tales como ultrasonidos y radiografia se caracterizan por los elevados costes de los equipos, la necesidad de un operario altamente cualificado que interprete los datos obtenidos y la inviabilidad de realizarlos en tiempo real.  el objeto de esta tesis consiste en automatizar la etapa de clasificacion permitiendo discriminar si una union soldada es aceptable o defectuosa en tiempo real. La fuente de informacion para decidir la calidad de la soldadura son las curvas de tension e intensidad en los electrodos durante el proceso de soldadura.  esta curvas son muestreadas y mediante una electronica digital simple (fpga de bajo costo) se obtienen caracteristicas para que un clasificador de tipo neuronal decida si la pieza se rechaza o se acepta.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos
