Su caracterizacion molecular preliminar muestra que se trata de un gen muy complejo, que se extiende en mas de 100 kb de dna genomico y cuyos cdnas estan sujetos a maduracion alternativa. Muestra de esta complejidad es que en un northern blot, una sonda procedente de la region de la insercion del transposon, detecta transcritos de 3 kb, 4.6 kb y 7 kb. La caracterizacion de uno de los cdnas ha mostrado la existencia de un intron de 84 kb, el mas grande descrito hasta este momento en drosophila y con posibles implicaciones en la regulacion de la actividad del gen. Finalmente, mediante hibridacion in situ en cromosomas poletenicos se ha conseguido orientar la unidad de transcripcion en el cromosoma.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos de la tesis
