Se ha realizado un analisis de su contenido informativo al objeto de facilitar su ulterior aprovechamiento para estudios historicos-medicos. Se ha inventariado un total de 4373 expedientes clinicos, de los cuales se han considerado pertinentes para el estudio 4276. A partir de los datos sobre pacientes existentes en las historias clinicas se describe la poblacion atendida en sus caracteristicas demograficas y socioeconomicas. Los diagnosticos se estructuran en forma de thesaurus. A traves de la consulta de otras fuentes de archivo y el testimonio del que fuera jefe del servicio, el profesor juan jose barcia goyanes, se reconstruye el perfil biografico y se analizan las
