Se han definido 22 unidades litoestratigraficas (21 nuevas), cartografiadas a escala 1:25.000. La datacion de las unidades se ha hecho en base a foraminiferos y ammonites, la mayor parte de los cuales son primeras citas en el area de estudio y en la cuenca. A su vez, la datacion realizada ha permitido la caracterizacion de una laguna estratigrafica correspondiente a gran parte del albiense medio (7 subzonas superiores de las 8 que se compone).  en el registro sedimentario se han distinguido 11 sistemas sedimentarios: 1) plataforma mixta de narea; 2) sistema de plataforma carbonatada de aulesti; 3) sistema de plataforma carbonatada-surco de kakuta; 4) sistema deltaico\/plataforma mixta del acantalido de otoio; 5) sistema turbiditico de legaburu; 6) plataforma carbonatada de markina; 7) sistema de plataforma mixta de asketa; 8) sistema de surcos y plataformas carbonatadas aisladas de ea; 9) sistema de plataformas carbonatadas y surcos de erlo; 10) sistema turbiditico de ondarroa; 11) albiense superior.  la tectonica sinsedimentaria fue muy importante en el area. Como resultado de la misma se han identificado 22 fallas, 3 pliegues, 3 subcuencas y 4 discordancias. Se han distinguido, asi mismo, diversos caracteres tectonicos y sedimentarios distintivos de areas sometidas a desgarre. La orientacion relativa de las estructuras pone de manifiesto la actuacion de un desgarre sinistro n120e, fundamentalmente a lo largo de la falla markina-elgoibar, y ligado a la deriva de la placa iberica.
