El sistema es dividido en un sistema experto para la clasificacion en linea del comportamiento del proceso objeto de supervision y, un sistema experto para eldiagnostico de las averias detectadas.  la gran cantidad de datos a procesar y la velocidad de respuesta requerida, obligaron a proponer diferentes arquitecturas hardware para resolver problemas como:  adquisicion de datos en entornos industriales distribuidos, analisis de patrones en tiempo real, adquisicion de sucesos temporales, etc. Adicionalmente, se dise\u00f1o el sistema de forma que los diferentes modulos trabajasen en paralelo.  por ultimo, destacar las aportaciones en el formalismo utilizado en esta tesis para dotar al sistema de diagnostico de un razonamiento temporal que pudiese localizar las causas de una
