Para ello, se ha generado y caracterizado una genoteca de cdna en agtll de islotes humanos purificados, que contiene clones de los principales autoantigenos descritos en diabetes. Se ha identificado clones de cph en genotecas de islotes y tiroides. Se ha demostrado que la cph se encuentra en las celulas foliculares del tiroides y que la cph producida en islotes y tiroides es igual que la expresada en cerebro. El cribado de la genoteca de islotes con sueros diabeticos (seleccionados por su readtividad en western-blot) ha permitido identificar un clon de 1.4kb que codifica una proteina de 38kda, reconocida por un 15% de los sueros testados. Ademas, la produccion de autoantigenos en forma de proteinas recombinantes en bacterias ha permitido: i) estudiar posibles epitopos determinantes en estas moleculas; ii) disponer de una fuente de antigeno recombinante para estudios funcionales; iii) producir anticuerpos monoclonales y policlonales que reconocen la forma nativa de la proteina; iv) proponer un nuevo modelo animal para el estudio
