Este gen ha sido aislado en mas de 40 microorganismos mediante complementacion interespecifica de un mutante reca de escherichia coli. En algunos casos, este gen reca heterologo, a pesar de complementar las disfunciones de un mutante reca de e. Coli, no poseen en su secuencia promotora el motivo ctg n10 cag reconocido por el represor lexa de esta especie, expresandose de forma constitutiva en el fondo genetico de esta enterobacteria. Este hecho, plantea cuestiones como:  ?Poseen estos genes reca heterologos carentes de caja sos algun tipo de regulacion, o se expresan de forma constitutiva en sus respectivos fondos geneticos? Este trabajo, ademas de demostrar la universalidad de la caja sos reconocida por el represor lexa de e. Coli, demuestra la autoregulacion del gen reca de los microorganismos del grupo alfa de las proteobacterias. Por otra parte, el gen reca de dos especies bacterianas pertenecientes a este grupo filogenetico (rhodobacter sphaeroides y rhodobacter capsulatus), han sido aislados, caracterizados y secuenciados en
