Estos insecticidas se utilizan en agricultura y como parasiticidas en medicina humana.  se han descrito efectos neurotoxicos de los pccas que parecen estar producidos principalmente por una alteracion de la neurotransmision gabaergica y la homeostasis del calcio. En el presente trabajo se muestra que los efectos citotoxicos de los pccas en cultivos de neuronas granulares de cerebelo estan producidos principalmente por una alteracion de la homeostasis del calcio. Algunos agentes farmacologicos que disminuyen los incrementos de calcio producidos por estos compuestos son capaces de disminuir la toxicidad producida por los pccas.
