Se han considerado dos casos dependiendo del espesor de las laminas: lamina delgada y lamina gruesa. Se han obtenido las expresiones para calcular, en ambos casos las constantes opticas de las laminas depositadas.  este estudio ha sido aplicado a dos materiales como son el oxido de cerio y el oxido de aluminio, que presentan unas propiedades interesantes para su utilizacion en componentes opticos. Se han estudiado las constantes opticas (indice de regraccion y coeficiente de extincion) en funcion de los parametros de deposicion. Este estudio ha sido completado con otras tecnicas de caracterizacion complementarias como son: espectroscopia infrarroja, difraccion de rayos x, espectrometria de retrodispersion (rbs) y microscopia de fuerzas atomicas (afm).  a partir de los indices de refraccion calculados para ambos materiales se han simulado alguno de los dispositivos opticos mas utilizados.
