El estudio de un peptido con el extremo n-terminal de la proteina indicaba que esta region forma un alfa-helice y se une a traves del surco menor, constituyendo un nuevo motivo de union al dna. Estudios de union a dna y de activacion de la iniciacion de la replicacion por proteinas homologas a la p6 en los bacteriofagos nf y ga-1, relacionados con 029, han permitido concluir que parala activacion de la replicacion por la proteina p6 es necesario un posicionamiento adecuado de esta respecto al origen de replicacion, asi como un reconocimiento especifico por parte del complejo
