Esta nueva unidad de transcripcion, llamada ariadne, consta de ocho exones, de los cuales ni el primero ni los dos ultimos son codificantes. El ultimo exon tiene cuatro sitios alternativos de poliadenilacion que originan cuatro transcritos regulados a lo largo del desarrollo.  existen productos maternos. Hemos generado anticuerpos policlonales contra la unica proteina codificada en este gen. Estos anticuerpos reconocen a una proteina soluble.  la proteina aparece en el sistema nervioso central de las larvas y los adultos en algunas de las regiones ricas en sinapsis. Su caracteristica estructural mas destacada es un dominio de union a zinc; el ring finger. Hemos encontrado mutantes que son muy hipomorfos para la expresion de este gen y que presentan una grave desorganizacion del sistema nervioso central en las pupas y los
