Para llegar a esos criterios cuantitativos, se han analizado los riesgos que la superacion del els de decompresion representa para la seguridad del puente. En concreto, se ha desarrollado un modelo para estudiar la relacion cuantitativa entre el grado de pretensado en la estructura y la probabilidad de que esta colapse por efecto de la fatiga. El fenomeno de \u00abfretting fatigue\u00bb ha sido tenido en cuenta en el acero de postesar.  el modelo global incluye modelos originales nuevos para el tratamiento de las acciones exteriores sobre el puente (trafico, termicas y asientos diferenciales), de la respuesta tensional seccional y de la definicion de la resistencia a fatiga de los elementos de acero del puente. La incertidumbre en las variables fundamentales del problema se tuvo en cuenta a traves de su tratamiento estadistico usando los principios de la teoria de la fiabilidad. Al final se muestra la aplicabilidad del metodo propuesto a traves del estudio de un amplio abanico de estructuras con diferentes grados de pretensado. Se observa la relacion directa entre grado de pretensado y seguridad frente a fatiga.
