Estas propiedades estan en relacion con las distribuciones espaciales, a menudo complejas, que presentan la mayoria de las especies de interes pesquero. En el presente trabajo, proponemos una aproximacion al problema basada en un modelo geostadistico. Enfocamos la modelizacion geostadistica bajo una doble vertiente: por un lado, para describir y cartografiar la distribucion espacial de una especie o propiedad del ecosistema de interes; por otra parte, para optimizar el proceso de evaluacion de recursos explotables. Bajo esta doble perspectiva, modelizamos la distribucion espacial de una categoria de organismos demersales de profundidad, los crustaceos decapodos. Las muestras se obtuvieron mediante muestreos especificamente dise\u00f1ados en caladores comerciales de cigala (talud continental superior) de la costa catalana.  la evaluacion directa de recursos de
