De esta manera se ha podido determinar que este cation induce y estabiliza especificamente complejos intramoleculares en ambas cadenas. En el caso de la cadena d(ga)n se ha observado que el zn2+ interactua con la posicion n7 de las guaninas y que esta interaccion, a diferencia de la interaccion desestabilizadora del zn2+ con el b-dna, estabiliza un complejo intramolecular formado por dicha cadena. Por otra parte, se ha comprobado que el zn2+ induce la formacion de triplex intermoleculares d(ag(ga-tc))n.  ahora bien, esta induccion no es especifica de dicho cation pues puede ser conseguida, con menor eficacia, mediante mg2+. Se concluye que las capacidades desestabilizadoras de b-dna e inductoras de complejos intramoleculares en las cadenas d(ga)n y d(tc)n, especificas del zn2+. Posibilitan que este cation, a diferencia del mg2+, induzca conformaciones como *h-dna y horquilla-*h. Tambien se han obtenido, a partir de extractos nucleares de celulas de raton, fracciones enriquecidas en proteinas capaces de unirse a la secuencia d(tc)n pero no a d(ga)n ni al duplex d(ga-tc)n.  se
