En dicha tesis se describen los procesos de fabricacion de varios dispositivos optoelectronicos sobre semiconductores de tipo iii-v, de la familia del fosfuro de indio, inp, para su aplicacion a sistemas de transmision optica coherente.  de este modo, se tratan tanto dispositivos de la parte del emisor, como de la parte de recepcion de estos sistemas. La parte emisora esta formada principalmente por un diodo laser monocromatico, sintonizable en longitud de onda, de tipo dbr (distributed bragg reflector). Por el otro lado, la parte de recepcion cuenta con dispositivos fotodetectores, tanto en forma de dispositivos discretos como integrados dentro de los llamados circuitos integrados fotonicos (pic).
