Emilia <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Se han investigado los complejos octaedricos del tipo [ru(l)2(ddz)]2+, con dos ligandos 2,2\u00c2\u00bf-bipiridina (bpy) o 1,10-fenantrolina(phen) iguales y un tercer ligando de extensa estructura aromatica (ddz=dibenzo[h,j] dipirido[3,2-a:2\u00c2\u00bf,3\u00c2\u00bf-c]febazina), como candidatos a sondas luminiscentes y fotosensibilizadores dirigidos a los acidos nucleicos. Las propiedades espectroscopicas y fotofisicas del [ru(bpy)2(ddz)]2+ y del [ru(phen)2(ddz)]2+ son similares para ambos complejos y se muestran muy sensibles al disolvente. Su luminiscencia caracteristica (centrada a 620-630 nm) es relativamente intensa en acetonitrilo pero debil en disolucion acuosa debido a que sus estados excitados mlct se desactivan por interacci\u00f3n entre los \u00e1tomos de nitrogeno no coordinados de la region fenazina y el agua. La presencia del ligando ddz induce la autoasociacion de estos compuestos dicati\u00f3nicos en disolucion acuosa. Los complejos [ru (bpy\/phen)2(ddz)]2+ se unen al dna con elevada afinidad mediante la intercalacion del ligando ddz entre los pares de bases de la doble helice, exhibiendo importantes incrementos en sus valores del rendimiento cuantico y del tiempo de vida de emisi\u00f3n. En presencia de celulas de mamifero, el [ru(bpy)2(ddz)]2+ se localiza preferentemente en el nucleo de las celulas muertas y permite determinar la viabilidad celular mediante analisis por citometria de flujo, microscopia de fluorescencia y medidas de luminiscencia con resolucion temporal. Los complejos [ru(bpy\/phen)2(ddz)]2+ fotosensibilizan la producci\u00f3n de oxigeno singlete tanto en disoluci\u00f3n acuosa como unidos al dna.
