Se introduce el concepto de transporte sostenido y se define la comarca como unidad de actuacion. Finalmente se justifica la necesidad de compaginar la mejora del transporte con el desarrollo economico y la conservacion del medio ambiente.  en la segunda parte se describe la potencialidad de los sistemas de informacion geografica en el estudio de la red de transportes, segun capacidad de analisis, la introduccion de datos georreferenciados de la comarca y la forma de controlar la calidad de los mismos. Se explica la teoria de grupos aplicando la seleccion de la red de transportes y diversos indices que reflejan la situacion de la red de transporte.  finalmente, se presenta un modelo de transporte para comarcas forestales que optimizan la red teniendo en cuenta en el impacto mediambiental.
