El nuevo protocolo permite obtener mejores prestaciones que el actual estandar ieee-802.1d.  el estandar especifica un protocolo basado en arboles de expansion (spanning tree). La utilizacion de un arbol se justifica con basa en evitar realimentaciones de trafico sobre -posibles- rutas ciclicas. La sencillez del protocolo es una de sus principales virtudes, pero tambien presenta importantes limitaciones, como la imposibilidad de utilizar rutas alternativas, no garantizar rutas minimas, etc. La evolucion tecnologica unida a la constante disminucion de los precios de los equipos y al auge de las redes de comunicacion permite plantear protocolos mas complejos que ofrezcan mejores prestaciones.  en la presente tesis se analizan las posibilidades del estandar de puente transparente asi como otras propuestas, en la linea de este trabajo, que pretenden mejorar los aspectos deficientes del estandar.  a continuacion, se propone un nuevo protocolo de puente transparente: el protocolo de encaminamiento optimo sub-optimo (eos). La principal diferencia con el estandar es que eos permite utilizar topolog\u00edas con rutas redundantes realizando un encaminamiento optimo o, en el peor de los casos, sub-optimo entre las estaciones fuente y destino. El protocolo eos basa su funcionamiento en el estandar ieee-802.1d, utilizando la topolog\u00eda de arbol de expansion para conocer, de forma transparente, la ubicacion de las estaciones en la lan extendida.  finalmente se han realizado numerosas pruebas de simulacion con distintas topolog\u00edas que validan el comportamiento superior del protocolo propuesto.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos
