En segundo lugar, utilizando como controles musculo esqueletico y liso de raton y, musculo de estriacion transversal de drosophila melanogaster, se localizaron mediante western blot e inmunocitoquimica una serie de proteinas en ambos tipos musculares del anelido, exclusivas de: invertebrados (paramiosina, miniparamiosina y minititina), vertebrados (titina y distrofina), musculo estriado (troponina) y musculo liso (caldesmon y calponina). Para todos los tipos musculares estudiados siempre se obtuvieron resultados positivos para miosina, actina, tropomiosina, calmodulina, alpha-actinina y vinculina. La nebulina, en contra de lo que ocurre en vertebrados, se localiza tanto en el musculo estriado de la pared como en el musculo estriado cardiaco del anelido. No se ha encontrado desmina y vimentina en las barras z.
