Se ha demostrado que las cmr son capaces de sintetizar oxido nitrico (no) en virtud de la existencia de una nosi que puede ser estimulada con lipopolisacarido bacteriano y factor denecrosis tumoral  (lps\/tnf- ). Esta isoforma es esencialmente identica a la presente en macrofagos murinos. Esta expresion es dependiente de sintesis proteica y de dna. El factor de transcripcion nf-kb podria participar en la expresion de esta isoforma inducible ya que se ha clonado un fragmento de la region reguladora del gen de la nosi de rata y se ha visto un sitio de union de este factor de transcripcion. Este resultado se encuentra apoyada por el hecho de que un inhibidor de la activacion de este factor, el purrolidin ditrocarbamato (pdtc), es capaz de inhibir la sintesis de mrna de la nosi, la sintesis de la proteina y la de no.  ademas se ha observado actividad nuclear de este factor de transcripcion en las cmr en respuesta al tratamiento con lps\/tnf- y esta es inhibida casi totalmente por el pdtc. Tambien se ha determinado la potencial participacion del factor de transcripcion ap-1 en la induccion del gen de la nosi ya que su actividad tambien se encuentra elevada en condiciones de estimulacion, pudiendo cooperar con nf-kb promoviendo la transcripcion del gen.  un glucocorticoide, la dexametasona (dx) demostro ser activo en la modulacion de la expresion de la nosi actuando de forma inhibitoria sobre la sintesis de no, la sintesis del enzima nosi y la expresion del mrna de la nosi estimulada con lps\/tnf-  , de forma d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos de la
