Baldonado Celeste <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Se estudio la frecuencia de mutaciones en los exones 5 a 8 del gen supresor p53 en el dna extraido del material tumoral incluido en bloques de parafina mediante analisis con geles con gradiente de desnaturalizante (dgge\/cdge) y secuenciacion directa de mutantes en 85 pacientes diagnosticadas y tratadas por cancer de mama que tuvieron un seguimiento medio de 143 meses. El tratamiento inicial en la mayoria de los casos fue mastectomia radical modificada con linfadenectomia axilar homolateral. La frecuencia de mutaciones en los exones 5 a 8 del gen p53 fue 11,8%. No se hallo correlacion entre la presencia de mutaciones en dichos exones del gen y los antecedentes familiares de cancer, el estadio, tipo y grado histologico del tumor mamario ni el estado de receptores de estrogenos, la ploidia y la actividad proliferativa del tumor.
