Su principal objetivo es el desarrollo de un simulador de conduccion estatico y su utilizacion para realizar simulaciones con hardware-in-the-loop aplicadas al desarrollo de algoritmos de control del balanceo de un vehiculo automovil.  la tesis ha sido dividida en cuatro grandes secciones:  1. El estudio del hardware y de los factores que afectan el tiempo de respuesta de una aplicacion de simulacion visual, que a su vez se dividen en dos partes: el sistema operativo y el metodo de desarrollo de software optimizado para proporcionar una respuesta determinista.  2. El desarrollo de un modelo matematico del vehiculo, que permite predecir su comportamiento en tiempo real por integracion numerica de las ecuaciones del movimiento.  3. El dise\u00f1o de un puesto de conduccion dotado de volante y pedales de freno y acelerador, que convenientemente sensorizado se comunica con el computador de la simulacion suministrandole las acciones de entrada del conductor.  4. Por ultimo se ha desarrollado un sistema de hardware-in-the-loop, consistente en conectar fisicamente a la simulacion una unidad electronica del control con un sistema de entrada\/salida.
