Hemos medido estos niveles para algunas de las enzimas implicadas: dt-diaforasa (dtd), carbonil reductasa (cr) y alcohol deshidrogenasa (adh), entre otras. Se han medido en algunas lineas celulares tumorales humanas y en biopsias de tejido tumoral y normal adyacente, de pacientes afectados de cancer de pulmon o de mama. Los niveles enzimaticos se examinaron bien por analisis de \u00abwestern blot\u00bb, por espectrofotometria, o por ambas tecnicas. Los resultados mas relevantes indican que en las lineas celulares tumorales humanas, la expresion de dtd tiende a variar dependiendo del tipo histologico. Por ejemplo, en las lineas de pulmon los niveles eran mayores en los carcinomas de celulas no peque\u00f1as que en los carcinomas de celulas peque\u00f1as. Dtd se inducia en el tejido tumoral de la mayoria de los pacientes estudiados y presentaba una variacion mayor en los tumores pulmonares (0,9-966 nmol\/min\/mg) que en los de mama (5-267 nmol\/min\/mg), con una actividad basal en los correspondientes tejidos normales de hasta unos 45 nmol\/min\/mg tanto en unos pacientes como en los otros. La expresion de dtd medida por \u00abwestern blot\u00bb correlaciono significativamente con la actividad medida. Cr tambien se inducia en los tumores de mama y de pulmon, mostrando un aumento similar en ambos tejidos (hasta 250 nmol\/min\/mg).
