En el desarrollo teorico del modelo han surgido numerosas cuestiones en el terreno de la cuantificacion e identificacion de los fenomenos microscopicos subyacentes a la nucleacion y propagacion de las microgrietas, a las que se ha pretendido dar una respuesta cualitativa y cuantitativa.  el modelo ha sido validado mediante la comparacion de sus resultados con los provenientes de la experimentacion. La comparacion arroja, un buen resultado, permitiendo afirmar que el modelo en su estado actual, es utilizable para la prediccion del fallo fragil de aceros estructurales de matriz ferritica.
