La resistencia a la sequia de tuxpe\u00f1o, no le confirio tolerancia al frio. Las plantas pretratadas con sequia mostraron un mejor estado hidrico al final del frio, debido a mayores niveles de aba, que disminuyeron la transpiracion y no afectaron la absorcion radicular.  asimismo, mostraron un mayor crecimiento, debido a tasas asimilatorias (nar) y fotosinteticas superiores y a una menor necrosis foliar. La inhibicion de la fotosintesis fue debida al deficit hidrico, acumulacion de azucares y disminucion del contenido de proteina y de la actividad fosfoenol-piruvato-carboxilasa; mientras que la menor necrosis foliar se relaciono con mayores actividades catalasa y guaiacol peroxidasa. La respiracion, nivel de azucares solubles totales y actividad fosfoenolpiruvato carboxilasa radicular disminuyeron mas en la variedad sensible. El frio inhibio el crecimiento radicular por igual en las variedades estudiadas, debido a la disminucion de la extensibilidad de la pared celular.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos de la
