Se ha realizado un amplio estudio cinetico de la oxidacion de la deserpilin con peroxodisulfatopotasico y con sulfato de cerio (iv) en disolucion de acetico. La reaccion transcurre con la formacion consecutiva de 3,4-dehidroderivado y del 3,4,5,6-tetradehidroderivado.  se propone un mecanismo del proceso. Se calculan los parametros cineticos y se discuten en funcion de las estructuras de los alcaloides. Se evaluan las energias de activacion. Se efectuan algunas oxidaciones con el acetato de plomo (iv). El sulfato de cerio (iv) es el oxidante mas eficaz. Se propone un metodo analitico muy simple, para la determinacion de la reserpina midiendo la intensidad de fluorescencia del dehidro obtenido en la oxidacion con sulfato de cerio (iv). Se ha estudia la interaccion de la deserpina, reserpina, rescinamina, reserpilina y ajmalicina con o-cloranil y acido cloranilico en cloroformo y 1,4 dioxano.
