La tesis se divide en tres partes: la primera recoge las coordenadas historico-culturales que rodearon la figura de gaos, tanto en espa\u00f1a como en mexico. En la segunda parte se hace una biografia de gaos (su formacion, personalidad y labor academica) y una presentacion general de su pensamiento, destacando la subjetividad e historicidad de su filosofia. En la tercera y ultima parte se estudia el agnosticismo de gaos, y se hace una breve critica a las ontolog\u00eda que sirve de base a su agnosticismo; se pone ahi de manifiesto la insuficiente nocion gaosiana de \u00abexistencia\u00bb con la que resulta dificil superar el antinomismo propio de su metafisica.  dicho antinomismo es la causa de que las cuestiones metafisicas queden a merced de las \u00abrazones del corazon\u00bb; nuestras concepciones racionales dependen de nuestras emociones (amor u odio), que nos llevan a optar por una u otra solucion.
