El exito de una especie en planes de reforestacion o en programas de mejora, dependera en gran medida del conocimiento de la variabilidad genetica de la misma. El presente estudio contribuye al conocimiento de la variabilidad genetica de la misma. El presente estudio contribuye al conocimiento desde el punto de vista genetico de varias especies del gen. Prosopis. Pertenecientes a las secciones algarobia (p. Alba, p. Alba var. Panta, p. Eleta y p. Nigra) y strombocarpa (p. Strombulifera y p. Torquata). Para ello, se analizaron mediante electroforesis en geles de almidon seis sistemas insoenzimaticos (a.D.J.,M.D.J., A.A.T., est., Prx. Y l.A.P.) Y se determinaron parametros de variabilidad genetica para todas las especies y de estructuracion poblacional en las especies p. Alba y p.  nigra. Para determinar el grado de diferenciacion entre las especies, se estimo la distancia genetica (d) y el tiempo de divergencia evolutiva (t). Los resultados obtenidos indican que las especies prosopis analizadas son muy variables y que la estructuracion poblacional es debida en un 90% a la variabilidad intrapoblacional y por tanto se ha
