Se ha empleado el metodo de elementos finitos para obtener la estructura de bandas de energia de un pozo cuantico no cuadrado.  para este caso se ha validado la aproximacion de funcion envolvente usando un metodo envolvente completa. Se ha generalizado un modelo de ganancia existente para calcular la ganancia modal en el caso de pozos cuanticos no cuadrados. Nuestros resultados indican que es posible mejorar las caracteristicas de los laseres mediante el uso de pozos no cuadrados usando la interdifusion como proceso para graduar el pozo.
