Se analiza asimismo la influencia de la obesidad en las variables lipidicas, las variables de reserva pancreatica y cifras tensionales. Se trata de un estudio descriptivo, observacional y transversal realizado en 1991 y 1992 en la area basica de salud de valls. Se extrae una muestra aleatoria de 170 individuos de 14 a 70 a\u00f1os. Se registran las variables siguientes:  edad, sexo, peso, altura; circunferencias braquial, de mu\u00f1eca, de cadera y de cintura, pliegues cutaneos, bicipital, tricipital, subescapular y suprailiaco, colesterol total, glucemia, trigliceridos, colesterol-ldl, colesterol-vldl, colesterol-hdl, apo a-i, apo b-100, lp(a). Insulinemia y peptido (antes y 3 y 6 minutos) despues de un test de glucagon, areas debajo de la curva de peptido c e insulinemia, menopausia, cifras tensionales, tabaquismo y eventos cardiovasculares acontecidos. Se generan las variables indice de masa corporal (imc), razon cintura\/cadera. (Rcm) e indice de conicidad. Se realizan pruebas de chi cuadrado, t de student-fisher, analisis de la variancia, regresion simple y correlacion, regresion, multiple y pruebas de normalidad, considerando diferencias significativas cuando p&lt;0.05. Se producen 12 perdidas, estudiandose 158 sujetos, 79 hombres y 79 mujeres, con una edad media de 44 a\u00f1os.  la lp(a) no sigue una distribucion normal, se correlaciona positivamente con la edad (p&lt;0.01).  inversamente con los trigliceridos y con todos los pliegues cutaneos analizados, perdiendose esta significacion al ajustar por otras variables lipidicas.  la distribucion de lp (a) no se correlaciona ni con el imc ni con la rcm.
