Los polimeros de partida utilizados fueron la poliepiclorhidrina y un copolimero 1:1 de esta con oxido de etileno. Por su parte, la modificacion se llevo a cabo con los siguientes acidos carboxilicos: acido 10-undecenoico, acido 4-pentenoico, acido 3-butenoico, acido 4-(2-propenoxi) benzoico, acido 4-(5-hexenoxi) benzoico, acido 3-(2-propenoxi)-2-naftoico, acido 3-(5-hexenoxi)-2-naf toico y acido 2-(tiolil)nicotinico. En todas las reacciones de modificacion se hizo evidente la presencia de las reacciones competitivas de entrecruzamiento y de degradacion de la cadena polimerica. La caracterizacion de los polimeros se llevo a cabo mediante espectroscopia ir, espectroscopia de rmn, medidas de viscosidad, osmometria, gpc, termogravimetria, dsc y difraccion de rayos x.
