Esto, segun datos de la literatura es cierto tanto para las hembras como para los machos de muchas especies de mamiferos, incluyendo la rata de laboratorio. Por otra parte hay datos que apoyan la idea de que el receptor periferico para esas substancias se encuentra en las fosas nasales y que podria ser el organo vomeronasal, primer escalon de llamado sistema vomeronasal. En este trabajo se ha tratado de demostrar que feromonas de las hembras producen cambios en el eje hipotalamo -hipofisis- gonadas de los machos. Tratando de averiguar primero cual es la respuesta de este eje con ratas wixtar machos desde los 15-60 dias de edad y segundo si hubiera respuesta averiguar si la informacion fuera percibida por el organo vomeronasal.
