A lo largo de todo el trabajo se utilizaron dos variedades de ma\u00edz con distinta sensibilidad al fr\u00edo: z7 (tolerante) y penjalinan (sensible). Ambas variedades, se sometieron a 5\u00c2\u00bac durante 3 \u00f3 5 d\u00edas, en condiciones de baja o moderada-alta intensidad luminosa.  en condiciones de baja intensidad luminosa, las plantas de la variedad sensible (penjalinan) sufrieron un mayor d\u00e9ficit h\u00eddrico durante el fr\u00edo que las plantas de la variedad tolerante (z7). Dicha diferencia en el d\u00e9ficit h\u00eddrico sufrido durante el fr\u00edo, no se debi\u00f3 s\u00f3lo a una mayor tasa transpiratoria de las plantas de penjalinan, sino a que las plantas de z7 fueron capaces de aclimatar su conductancia hidr\u00e1ulica radicular durante el fr\u00edo, pudiendo estar las acuaporinas implicadas en dicha aclimataci\u00f3n.  en condiciones de moderada-alta intensidad luminosa, durante el periodo de fr\u00edo y la subsecuente recuperaci\u00f3n, las plantas de z7 coordinaron la actividad de las enzimas ascorbato peroxidasa (apx), glutati\u00f3n reductasa (gr) y super\u00f3xido dismutasa (sod). Por otro lado, las plantas de penjalinan aumentaron la actividad sod, sin un aumento de la actividad apx, lo que pudo provocar un aumento de per\u00f3xido de hidr\u00f3geno (h2o2) en sus hojas, esto explicar\u00eda su mayor nivel de necrosis foliar con respecto a las plantas de z7.  con un tratamiento de sequ\u00eda previo, conseguimos aclimatar las plantas de penjalinan al fr\u00edo. Dicha aclimataci\u00f3n, se debi\u00f3 tanto a un mejoramiento del estado h\u00eddrico, como a un aumento de la actividad de las enzimas antioxidantes. sin embargo, cuando disminuimos el d\u00e9ficit h\u00eddrico producido por el fr\u00edo mediante un aumento de la humedad relativa, las plantas de penjalinan mostraron los mismos niveles de necrosis foliar que las plantas de penjalinan sometidas a
