La quimica del proceso ha sido seguida mediante analisis de los semicoques por microscopia optica de luz polarizada, para determinar el contenido en anisotropia, por ftir (aromatidad) y extraccion con disolventes. Ademas, para profundizar en el estudio de la quimica del sistema, cada uno de los semicoques ha sido extraido secuencialmente con heptano, tolueno y 1-metil-2-pirrolidona. Para dar cuatro fracciones hs, ts, nmps y nmpi que permite seguir la cinetica del proceso. Se siguio la aromaticidad de estas fracciones por rmn y ftir. La cinetica del proceso sigue un mecanismo de reacciones consecutivas. La aromaticidad de las fracciones aumentan durante todo el proceso. Las fracciones que constituyen la fase isotropa (hs, ts y nmps) tienen similar aromaticidad durante todo el proceso, lo que implica que el cambio de solubilidad es por aumento de peso molecular la fase anisotropa (nmpi) es de mayor aromaticidad, lo que indica que para formar mesofase se necesita una mayor planaridad de las moleculas y una eliminacion de cadenas alquilicas.
