El deposito de los recubrimientos se hizo mediante tecnica capd (cathodic arc plasma deposition). El interes del estudio fue doble:  de un lado, a nivel industrial, la puesta a punto de la maquina de deposito, la optimizacion de los parametros de deposito para conseguir alta cohesion y alta microdureza de las capas y alta adherencia a los substratos. De otro lado, el estudio amplio de una serie de capas fruto de un dise\u00f1o de experimentos, las cuales barrieron un rango de composiciones ti (c,n) entre el tin y el tic. Sobre ellas se estudiaron las propiedades microscopicas: composicion, morfolog\u00eda superficial y en perfil de capa, estructura cristalina, orientaciones preferenciales tensiones residuales y tama\u00f1o promedio de grano cristalino, las propiedades mecanicas: microdureza y modulo de young (ensayos de microindentacion dinamica), adherencia (ensayos de rayado) y propiedades funcionales: ensayos de desgaste y de corrosion.
