Se analizan las diferentes escuelas que han estudiado el metodo para llegar a una definicion particular y estableciendo una metodolog\u00eda propia para su implantacion en cualquier tipolog\u00eda, tama\u00f1o o cultura de empresa.  se estudian, asimismo, las aplicaciones de la gestion en base a competencias en los diferentes subsistemas de los recursos humanos. En la parte empirica, se han analizado las competencias relevantes en firmas de auditoria, las de habilidades y las de conocimientos tecnicos, estableciendo un diccionario aplicable a estas empresas y detectando las diferencias relevantes en funcion de la tipolog\u00eda, tama\u00f1o, cultura y ocupaciones.
