Utilizando tecnicas de registro convencionales de la actividad electrica pre y postsinaptica, el autor muestra que: (1) el acido niflumico, un antiinflamatorio no esteroidal, activa la conductancia de potasio presinaptica y que, a traves de este mecanismo, reduce la liberacion evocada de acetilcolina; (2) los iones zinc bloquean la corriente de potasio y de calcio presinapticas pero penetran en el terminal a traves de los canales de calcio; (3) finalmente se muestra que despues del paso de un potencial de accion, una fraccion de la conductancia de potasio presinaptica se inactiva durante 6-7 ms y que despues de este periodo existe otro, de mayor duracion, en el que la conductancia de potasio tiene un valor superior al basal.
